WorkSafe can pay the reasonable costs of the concussion program at Epworth Hospital when required as a result of a work-related An injury/disease is work related if it arose out of or in the course of employment and the scope of employment. injury or illness. This service aims to provide workers early access to appropriate treatment and rehabilitation specific to a concussion injury.
Prior approval is required as this service type is considered as outpatient hospital treatment.
Program requests will differ dependent on the individual workers concussion characteristics and rehabilitation requirements. A ‘standard’ program for concussion injury is considered difficult to ascertain due to the differing clinical presentations of concussion.
Ensuring approval in a timely manner to clinically recommended treatment, like any treatment, will maximize rehabilitation and recovery.
