4.5.6 Child care services
WorkSafe can pay the reasonable costs of child care services for a worker who cared for a child before a work-related An injury/disease is work related if it arose out of or in the course of employment and the scope of employment. injury or illness which subsequently impacts his/her ability to provide child care.
Guidelines
Child care services are duties and tasks relating to the direct care of a child, such as feeding and bathing, which a worker performed before the work-related injury or illness. Child care services replace the care and supervision of a child whose caregiver has been injured as a result of a work-related injury or illness.
A written request must be provided from a treating medical practitioner to consider whether to approve child care services for a worker. Prior approval must be given before child care services can be provided.
