4.5.6 Child care services

WorkSafe can pay the reasonable costs of child care services for a worker who cared for a child before a work-related An injury/disease is work related if it arose out of or in the course of employment and the scope of employment. injury or illness which subsequently impacts of their ability to provide child care.

Guidelines

Child care services are duties and tasks relating to the direct care of a child, such as feeding and bathing, which a worker performed before the work-related injury or illness. Child care services replace the care and supervision of a child whose caregiver has been injured as a result of a work-related injury or illness.

A written request must be provided from a treating medical practitioner to consider whether to approve child care services for a worker. Prior approval must be given before child care services can be provided.
