Technical/Recoveries Officer

Job Description:

The Victorian WorkCover Authority is the state’s regulator on workplace health and safety with the aim to make all workplaces free from injury, risk and disease.

The Technical/Recoveries Officer works within the Operations Branch of the Dispute Management Division. A technical officer is required to identify potential recoveries for S137(5A), occupier’s liability, third party negligence and co-ordinate the common law peer review process and Health Checks. The role will also provide technical support and maintain training programs with Agents, Legal Panel and Recoveries team, monitor and report on issues in respect of Recoveries, compliance, data integrity and exception reporting.

The succesful candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of the Accident Compensation Act 1985 and the Transport Accident Act 1986
  • Claims management experience and the ability to identify recovery potential and risk
  • Ability to define strategies and target areas of improvement in maximising recovery
  • Good standard of written, verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to provide briefs, papers and reports
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiations skills with ability in liaising with staff, management, claimants, insurers and employers
  • Proven analytical, conceptual, planning, decision making and problem solving skills, particularly in relation to statistical analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, under pressure and to stringent deadlines while efficiently managing workloads
  • Effective stakeholder management skills in liaising with stakeholders
  • Knowledge of ACCtion and Microsoft applications with a demonstrated ability to improve systems knowledge
  • Demonstrated capability in developing reporting requirements and monitoring strategies
  • Demonstrated project management skills

Note: If this temporary or secondment opportunity is made permanent, provided there are no identified performance issues the manager has the discretion to either directly appoint the incumbent to the permanent position or readvertise the role.

The salary for this role is $61,105.00
This is a full time, fixed term position available until November 2007.
