Job Description:
The Victorian WorkCover Authority is the state’s regulator on workplace health and safety with the aim to make all workplaces free from injury and disease. It is also the manager of Victoria’s workers’ compensation scheme.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Dispute Management Division.
The Dispute Management Division is an established team responsible for the overall Scheme management of litigation entitlements pursuant to the Accident Compensation Act 1985. The team seeks to appoint a Senior Legal Counsel/Manager whose responsibility will be to work with the VWA’s Legal Panel, claims agents and other stakeholders to manage Scheme liabilities and benefit delivery. Your duties will include:
Management of legal service providers;
Formulation and release of policies and procedures;
Stakeholder liaison and relationship management;
Strategic claims advice and liability management;
Knowledge of common law principles and relevant sections of the Accident Compensation Act 1985, all relevant jurisdictional legislation and legal precedents;
Strong leadership, mentoring and management skills.
The salary for this role is at an executive level. This is a full time, permanent position.
