6.5.6 Processing provisional payments
Note: employer early notification obligations commence on, and provisional payments are only available for claims made on or after, 1 July 2021.
The Agent can process provisional payments where:
- the claim is pending or rejected
- the service date is within the 13 week period for which PP is active
- the item number is eligible to be paid under payment types approved under PP
Note that if an Agent/Self-insurer does not advise the worker in a timely manner of their provisional payments entitlement, the 13 weeks should commence from the date that the worker is advised.
